Welcome alumni, family and friends of Pok-O-MacCready Camps, to your Adirondack getaway. Take a deep breath. Try something new. Relax in nature. Connect with others. Make new camp memories. Learn and live our Community Camp Values. All age 21+ women and non-binary folks are welcome!
MacCready Women’s Weekend is an opportunity to enjoy camp in a new and meaningful way. Part reunion, part slumber party, and ALL restorative fun.
The weekend features core camp programs, as well as exclusive offerings. This is your weekend to let go, be present, and connect with Mac women old and new in the way that feels right for you.
Our weekend schedule is packed with a wide variety of programs, activities, social opportunities, and community meals … and it is still a work in progress. We strive to find a balance of offerings to meet everyone’s interests. If there is something that you would like to see in the schedule, please let Dena know, and we will try to make it happen! Everything on the schedule is optional, and you do not need to sign up in advance. You can join-in as much or as little as you would like – it’s up to you.
Women’s Weekend will run the third weekend in August, just after campers and staff have departed for the season.
While there is never the perfect timing for everyone’s busy schedules, this time-frame works well in order to embrace the remaining summer warmth, and experience all that camp has to offer. We will still have a few staff members around to pitch in as well!
This is a very special opportunity! Because camp is in session all summer, we are rarely able to offer off-season programming during the sweet summer months (other than Reunion every five years!) If you have spent a fall, winter or spring family weekend with us, now is your chance for that summer visit.
This includes two nights lodging, five meals, and all programming and activities. Linens and towels are not included.
Please note: In keeping with camp policy, Women’s Weekend is a BYO alcohol event.
Do I have to be a Pok-O-MacCready alum to attend women’s weekend? Absolutely not. New-to-camp folks are encouraged to join us to experience the Pok-O magic for the first time. We are excited to grow our community of amazing women!
Can I attend by myself? 100% yes. Come alone or with a friend or group. All are welcome.
Is there wifi on camp? Yes, we have limited and mostly reliable wifi at several locations at both Upper and Lower Camp.
Can I bring my dog? Yes, well-behaved, friendly dogs are welcome. Poop-bags are provided!
How do I get to camp? Planes, trains, automobiles (and ferries). We are not quite as remote as we appear. Burlington, VT Airport is an easy one hour drive from camp, and the Northway (87N) serves all points south (NYC, NJ etc.) Boston and New Englanders will head up 89N and cut across VT to the ADKs. Enter 1391 Reber Road, Willsboro into your GPS, and you will likely get here!
What are the accommodations like? We are a rustic camp, with winterized dorm-style lodging, as well as stand alone cabins. Each dorm or cabin is unique with varying levels of electricity, privacy, bathroom layout, etc. All of our accommodations have their own unique charm. Requests are welcome!
What is the food like? Chef Shannon, a 15-year veteran of Pok-O summer camp and off season events, knows how to please a crowd, accommodate every dietary restriction/food allergy/preference, while creating delicious, locally sourced meals, such as:
»Breakfast Buffet: baked oatmeal, fresh fruit, granola & yogurt; eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, bagels; pancakes »Bagged Lunch: salads, sandwiches, soups, chips · »Hearty Dinners: Fresh Street Tacos, Penne ala Vodka, Asian Rice Bowls, etc.
What about the weather!? Like all seasons in the ADKs, at the end of August you can experience many types of weather in one weekend, or one day! Typical weather: Highs: 77°F–78°F & Lows: 57°F–59°F; warm afternoons will turn into cool evenings; and expect the occasional rain shower/ thunderstorms.
What should I wear? What should I bring? Layers, and casual, practical items are best for an active camp day. Check out our Packing List to take the guess-work out of planning.
