Community Values

Respect
All community members work everyday to make Pok-O safe and inclusive. We practice respect for ourselves, others, our camp, and for the environment. This manifests in our words, actions, and decisions. Our goal is for each child to feel safe mentally, emotionally, and physically.

Growth
We foster personal growth by making thoughtful choices, embracing challenges, and creating a community where trying new things and learning from mistakes is encouraged.

Altruism
We recognize our interdependence, making conscious choices each day to contribute to the camp community by being kind and doing things for others.

Authenticity
Here we are honest and accepting. We allow each person to be their authentic selves, and to fully experience the joy of a community without judgment.

Simplicity
We engage with each other by being fully present in the moment and prioritizing interpersonal, screen-free relationships. We recognize that experiences are typically more valuable than things, and that less is often more.
“Camp is a necessary gift that we can give our children so that they may learn independence, gain confidence and have fun playing and challenging themselves individually and as a group. Pok-O does an incredible job setting the stage for just that sort of development and growth.”
