Halloween in July

A Pok-MacCready Camp summer is all about possibilities.  Plenty of class choices, hikes, activities, dietary options and refreshing free times are available for campers from drop-off till pick-up.  The potential approaches limitless. Time seems to get forgotten and since it isn’t necessarily a worry here at camp, we celebrate Halloween in July.
Casey claims that the Halloween in fall is better, but she couldn’t hold back laughter when talking about dancing at last night’s Halloween Party.  She dressed up as a cowgirl with her counselor Emi as her horse.  They galloped onto the intermediate field and met with the other costumed campers.  Napoleon dynamite boogied, the Kardashians were spotted, a military tank roved around and many other great costumes were seen. Some costumes were so perfect that they actually turned out to be real.
Ireland explained her hyper-realistic costume. “I went in my hiker outfit, because I just went hiking that day and I looked real… really real.”  This was true dedication to a costume.  The making of it spanned throughout the day on the long trails of the mountains Cliff and Redfield.  She even managed to get real dirt on her legs.  This didn’t stop her from booging to the music. “It was hard for me to. I was really sore.” Casey burst out in laughter when describing how her horse wasn’t such a strong dancer.
“She is not a very good horse. She was dancing. She got tired. She put me down.”  Casey seemed to appreciate the effort and there are photos to prove it.  The costumes of all the campers were appreciated. They had to be inventive in the creation of them. All they could use are the things they brought and what could be found. Here, there are no costume stores. Everyone was anyone last night and the music played loud on Long Pond.
