A night of dinner, music, awards… and lots of hugs.

The Camp MacCready 3-weeker banquet took place Thursday night in Robinson Hall.

Following a tomato juice toast, and a dinner of pork loin, rice pilaf, sautéed veggies and 16_Mac3wkBanq08dessert, the remainder of the evening was dedicated to recognizing the campers.

As always, awards were given out in class areas, patches for wilderness trip points, and a special plaque for riding, presented to Sophie P.  All departing campers received “Years at MacCready” awards, ranging from patches and pins, to paddles and blankets.  Amelia, Caroline, Willow and Emma R, received pack baskets for their eight years at MacCready, while Jaida received a standing ovation for her nine years at camp.

In fact, Jaida also captured a prestigious “MacCready M”.  Click the read more link to see who won MacCready M (the staff choice for camper excellence), and the Honor Camper, chosen by their peers, along with some quotes from the recipients.

“I wasn’t really surprised because everyone was saying stuff, like they had voted for me,” said Senior section Honor Camper Sarah Sh, who added that she doesn’t really enjoy being in the16_Mac3wkBanq04 spotlight, so “I was a bit confused and overwhelmed, but I felt very honored.”

Lodge section member Mahoune, who has only been at camp a little over a week, was ushered to the from of the dining hall by her sister, a former Honor Camper.  “I was a little surprised because I didn’t know what my sister was taking me for!  I am kind of surprised and kind of proud!”

The evening ended with a beautiful candlelight sing-a-long.  The boys banquet is scheduled for Thursday evening.
