The seven mile pack in to the campsite, followed by the three mile climb in the dark was all well worth it, as a group of hardy Advanced Section hikers sat on top of Haystack – New York’s third highest mountain – to enjoy Wednesday’s gorgeous sunrise.
It was an ambitious day all around for the always-on-the-move ADV, as one group climbed Haystack, Marcy (twice), Skylight and Gray, while another group climbed the five mountains in the Dix range.
“We’re all a little hungry, a little tired and a little dirty,” summed up Leonard, upon returning to Pok-O-MacCready, just before dinner.
