In it’s 27th year, the Senior Hockey League (SHL) has become a major focus on that section’s four week program. The appeal is to players of all levels, as 2016 saw many newcomers learn, improve and, eventually excel at the sport. Conversely, one camper – an excellent player – skipped hockey camp to stay longer at Pok-O-MacCready (“Too fun to leave,” said Jake.)
Jake’s team, “The Curse” advanced to the league final, following a full season of round robin, and preliminary playoff action. During Saturday’s championship game, they ran into a strong opponent in “Banned for Life”. Led by Myles’s four goals, and two more from Cyprien, Banned for Life won by a score of 6-1. “I managed to find opportunities, and put the ball in the net,” is how Myles played down his game MVP performance.
The new SHL Champions receive the honor of drinking Mountain Dew out of the Coupe Colonel Cup; each of their names will also be carved into the trophy.
