Senior camper Alex B finished his Adirondack 46ers Thursday on Skylight Mountain, the fourth highest peak in New York.
He was joined by section friends, along with his brothers. “It was a great day, the weather was perfect,” said Pok-O-MacCready’s 391st, and latest, camp 46er, of a long hike that included climbs up Gray Peak, and Mt. Marcy, the state’s tallest.
As per tradition, Alex chugged a jar of baby food on the summit. “It was chicken and sweet potatoes, but I really couldn’t taste the chicken, just the potato.”
As for the best part of his special day, Alex was nostalgic: “My favorite thing was stopping to wait, and reflect, right before reaching the top. I looked at all of the other mountains. Each one carried its own memory.”
