Seven miles from the nearest road, 13 miles from the closest airport and at an elevation of nearly 4000-feet, this is what a recent Advanced Section hike came across the other day. It looked like a scene from Lost.

Luckily, this was not a fatal crash. The small Cherokee 140 turbo prop crash occurred in bad weather in August, 1969. The high wooded plateau in between two mountains is a strange place to crash, but the soft tree cover led to a surprise safe landing.
