Welcome to the PMOEC Blog!

hiking_rattlesnakeEach year more than 50 schools and groups bring students to PMOEC in Willsboro, New York. Groups come from all over the Northeast and Quebec. PMOEC is open for the duration of the school year and offers programming for students third grade and older. A diverse staff of experienced outdoor professionals guarantees each group an educational, fun, and memorable experience.

In 1905, Dr. Charles Robinson founded Camp Pok-O-Moonshine for boys, on the southern shore of present day Long Pond. The camp expanded throughout the years, and in 1967 Camp MacCready for girls was created. In the 1970s, the two camps were merged together to become one co-ed camp named Pok-O-MacCready. The Pok-O-MacCready Outdoor Education Center was started in 1974, utilizing the extensive educational and residential facilities year-round. Since then, the Center has grown and worked with numerous schools and groups. Our programs continue to teach great lessons and skills while providing exciting new experiences.
