Come rain or shine, heat or cool, hard core camp climbers have access to fun and challenging routes. Pok-O-MacCready’s CRUX Climbing Center is open year round, not only to ca
mpers, but school groups, group parties and individual climbers.
During summer camp, it’s a popular quiet getaway for campers to work on their skills during class time and section activities. “It’s fun, and has good climbing challenges for me,” says Kara F, a Highlander who does a fair amount of climbing throughout the year at home.
Kara is actually one of the exceptions to the rule; for most campers “this is the perfect opportunity to try something new,” according to Spencer Aronstein, who started rock climbing as a camper at Pok-O, and now instructs at The CRUX. “It provides the perfect mental and physical puzzle.”
Here is what some of the other camper climbers think about The CRUX:
“So many different things to do: Bouldering, slack line; walls.” – Abe
“At the end, you ‘zip’ down” – Hunter
“I like it because I get to rock climb indoors. My favorite is the 40-foot climb.” –Kate C
“It’s fun going really high in the air.” –Matteo
Modern, clean and with music playing, The CRUX provides a great environment for campers to learn, improve, and prepare for some climbs on real rock walls. To learn more, or book your own trip, go to: www.climbthecrux.com
