Here We Go Again!

3wkArrive17It’s opening day all over again, as the second session of camp opened Tuesday with several dozen new campers joining forces with the group of seven-weekers who held over from session #1.

“It’s kind of like a family reunion,” stated Lucy M.  “It’s my 11th year here and, ha3wkArrive16ving come to camp so long, it’s pretty awesome to see how everyone has grown up!”

Not everyone has the long-term perspective of Lucy.  “I’ve had lunch, rest hour and swim tests.  So far, it’s been pretty cool,” said first-year camper Carter, of his brief experience at Pok-O-MacCready.

Campers began arriving at 9:00am, in the day camper shuttle, with more kids arriving by car throughout the morning.  The van from New York pulled into camp early afternoon.  Clearly, Nina M was excited to get to camp and see her counselors:

Among the day one activities are nurse checks, swim tests, section games, and moving in to cabins.  “The lodges seem nice and the swimming is cool,” reviewed Julian.3wkArrive13

Also Tuesday, all newly arrived campers took part in an Activity Fair, where they learned about the variety of daily class offerings.  “Well, I like what I’ve seen so far,” said Kendall.  “I really like volleyball and pottery, and I’m still learning about some others.”

Campers will sign up for the activities of their choosing.  Tomorrow, classes begin for the girls, while the boys will all go on day hikes tomorrow, deferring their first class until Thursday.
