Three Heats to the Wind

Pok-O-MacCready’s first aqua inter-camp event took place Monday afternoon with a sailing regatta against friendly camp rival North Country Camps.

Sailing on a different lake, a first-time experience to some of the campers, presented some new challenges.  The wind, and strange boats presented even greater demands.  “It was hardLincSail01 to control in the white caps,” reported the team of Maddie A and Elizabeth.  “The boats were very tippy!”

Pok-O’s coed team lost a close three-heat competition to Lincoln-Whipp by the score of 33-29. And, in spite of the challenges (or possibly because of them), the kids had a great time on Augur Lake.  “Well, I thought it was fun,” said Christian.  “We had different boats that we weren’t used to, but it was cool to try them.”

“It’s always nice to go there,” added Patrick Q, “to be on a different lake and be really competitive.”

“This was my first time racing,” remarked Clarisse, “so it was fun.  “And, there was a cool wind (on a very hot day), which was really nice.”
