THROWBACK THURSDAY: Hot off the Press

Some big things happened in January of 1998:  Posh Spice & David Beckham became engaged, we lost SNL’s Chris Farley, a major ice storm moved across Canada and the US bringing widespread destruction with it, and this edition of the Pok-O-Press made it into major newsstands all over the Northcountry.

The Pok-O-Press, the official periodical of the Pok-O-MacCready Outdoor Education Center, has always been a fun & lighthearted way for our outdoor instructors to share their knowledge about the environment and engage the local community in the outdoors.  Check out this vintage copy that floated across my desk this morning.  I thought it was appropriate that I would find this little gem today, as I’m just putting the final touches on my working copy of the new Pok-O-Press design, to be launched with the January 2015 edition (available in digital format!)

Since 1974 the Pok-O-MacCready Outdoor Education Center (PMOEC) has worked with hundreds of schools, community groups, and thousands of individuals from across North America. Our mission is to create and encourage a sense of awe in the presence of nature, promote teamwork, communication, and tolerance, and to build self confidence and nurture self worth for individuals of all ages.

PMOEC operates from September through June of each year and facilitates educational trips for schools with a focus on experiential learning, English immersion for French-Canadian students, corporate teambuilding & conference services, retreats, family reunions, and wedding venue services.  Our activity offerings allow groups to tailor their program to their needs, from day trips to multi-day overnight experiences in Fall, Winter, or Spring.

Need a unique place for your next big event?  Visit the PMOEC website to learn more!
