The Passing of Hank Swan

Henry Tilden “Hank” Swan III, 92, of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii passed away September 17, 2014.

Swan, a retired assistant director of parks and recreation for the city of Phoenix, and a Marine Corps Reserve 2nd lieutenant during World War II, died in the Regency at Hualalai. He was born in Philadelphia.

The eldest child of Colonel H.T. Swan, and Sarah Robinson Swan, Hank first came to Camp Pok-O-Moonshine in 1922.  He is the older brother to longtime camp owner Jack Swan. Hank Swan returned to camp for the final time, for the 100th reunion, in August, 2004.*

In addition to Jack, he is survived by daughters Suzanne Collipi, Priscilla Fox and Virginia Williams; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

*The photo below, taken at Pok-O’s 100th Reunion, recreates a famous 1942 family photo of the grandchildren of Dr. Robinson. The grandchildren are in the same order as in the 1942 photo, just a few decades older.
