Basketball Marathon

baskgame01The Pok-O-Plex® was busy Wednesday as Pok-O-Moonshine hosted Camp Lincoln in a pair of basketball games.

In the younger boy’s game, held in the afternoon, the action was back and forth from the opening tip-off, with the contest being decided in the final few seconds.  “With 30 seconds to go,” reported Pok-O forward Diego, “we were up by two points, 28-26.  The Lincoln guy went up for a layup, but I blocked it.”

The turnover resulted in a fast break, where Andrew B, the youngest Pok-O player was on the receiving end.  “I was running down, and they passed me the ball, and I made the shot!”  Andrew’s first points of the game gave the home team a 30-26 victory.  “I was excited, for sure,” said Andrew, while Diego called the game “super fun!”

In the nightcap, the older boys team fell to Lincoln by a final score of  32-23.  Joe Z led the scoring for Pok-O.  “They led by seven at the half, but we cut it to two midway through the second half.  Then, they got hot, just as we were not.  It was very competitive!”
