The Tribal Tug

TugOfWar11   TugOfWar01

The excitement and emotion of a very busy opening day of Indian Games reached a climax Tuesday night, as theTugOfWar09 Iroquois Nation braves and princesses competed in the tug-of-war, held amidst steamy and dusty conditions.

While the tribal tug is actually two separate events – boys and girls – the Seneca managed to win both contests, each with unbeaten records.  “We had a good set-up,” said Sophie H and Jaida, “with people mixed well all along the rope.”

Regarding the boy’s success, Jackson concurred.  “Our strategy was to put our strength at the front and the back, and the rest in the middle.  And everyone did so well.”
