Black is Back at The Great Journey

Indian Days continued Tuesday afternoon with Camp MacCready’s Great Journey, a race around camp in which the tribal princesses test not only their speed, but their ability to perform a variety of tasks, while passing along a GreatJourney01complicated message.

“I did the hit the tennis ball, followed by a run to the swim docks,” reported Maya.  “It was all downhill, but it wasn’t a piece of cake and I was out of breath when I finished!”  Maya’s Onondaga tribe won the event, their first victory of the 2014 Indian Games.

Other events at the Great Journey include the human jump, barrel roll and bike race.  While the Tuscarora came in first at the finish line, the Onondaga was close behind, and managed the most accurate message.  “I did the human jump course (over horse jumping fences),” said Maddie.  “We were in third when I started and we stayed there.  I thought we would be third or fourth at the end, so I’m so excited that we won!”
