Indian Days officially began Monday night, as the hatchet was unburied at the Great Indian Council fire circle.

The five tribes of the Iroquois Nation silently marched into the council to await the evening’s program:

Among the program highlights:  A fire starting dance by the camper Sachems and Chiefs (see VIDEO); The passing out of feathers to all braves and princesses; and the announcing of the schedule of competition for the days ahead.

The next two days will be intense: five separate events are scheduled for Tuesday, with five additional contests set for Wednesday (see full schedule).
