Soccer Success

In what was the mlincsocc204ost successful inter-camp sports day so far in 2014, The Pok-O-Moonshine soccer teams secured a decisive victory, along with a dramatic tie, in dual matches against Camp Lincoln.

AT Pok-O;  Hat tricks by both Papouto and Ryan M, along with shutout goalkeeping by Dean P, led the Senior boys to a 6-0 win, and a series sweep.

The stars of the game would be the first to tell you that this victory was a team affair.  “We had great teamwork, with June setting us up for a lot of the goals,” said Ryan.

With the three goals in Friday’s game, Papouto led all scorers with five tallies for the two games.  When asked about the difference between soccer at camp versus in his native Haiti, he remarked “it’s much better here.  The field is bigger, with more room to run, pass, kick and create formations.”
At Lincoln:  A goal by David Mlincsocc217 with four seconds remaining on the clock lifted Pok-O to a 5-5 tie against the home team.  The win avenged an 8-5 loss to Lincoln earlier in the week.  In goal, Quinn was a wall, with several saves, including one on a close range penalty kick during overtime.

Joan and Jaime each scored two goals for Pok-O.  “I think we played better (than the first game),” said Jaime.  “We played as a team and, most importantly, we had fun.”
