Class Profile: Pottery

pottery06With a studio that offers protection from the hot sun, along with specialist instruction and a wealth of creative projects, Pottery has been one of Pok-O-MacCready’s most popular classes in the 21st century.  In short, it’s the cool place to be.

“I like seeing the kids get creative; it’s the best class Pok-O offers,” says lead instructor Jess Bonasera, who has a right to be bias.  Jess first took the class as a camper herself and in now not only the specialist, she is also majoring in ceramics in college.

The kids are equally as fired up.  “It’s fun to make everything in this class,” said Sean T…. “You can make anything you can think of” – Remi… “In this class, you meet new people, boys and girls, of all ages.” – Sarah G.

Camp can be frantic and competitive, so both staff and campers are aware that pottery offers a break from the stimulation.  “This class is a ‘great escape'”, remarks Haley, “from the hectic schedule of camp.”  And another teacher, Maya Bridgewater, sums it up with “It’s a very welcoming class that offers a chill environment and a cold place on a hot day.  It’s a great class!”
