By bus, car and plane. Beginning at 6:00 in the morning in New York City and continuing throughout the morning and afternoon in Willsboro, campers have arrived at their summer home: Pok-O-MacCready Camps.
“Indeed I am,” proclaimed Luca when asked if he was psyched to be back. In his seventh and final summer as a camper Luca is “looking forward to the hiking and ‘adventuring’.” When asked the same question (“how happy are you to be back”), Remi was more direct: “What do you think?”
While a return to camp marks a reunion of sorts (see the many photos below), it’s a brand new beginning for first-time campers. “It’s not what I expected,” said Samantha, “it’s better!” Leonard was most taken by the appearance: “It’s beautiful. I just love this whole countryside!”
Of course, getting back to Pok-O-MacCready has been just as fun for the parents who dropped their children off. “I always get the same feeling driving down here,” said Michael, who was a camper and counselor in the 1970’s and 80’s. “And it’s even better now seeing that look in my kid’s eyes!”
While a full summer of activities await the campers, second year boy’s intermediate Dan C probably put the essence of camp into the keenest perspective. “I’m most looking forward to seeing old friends. And making new ones!”
