Fall Foliage Fun at Pok-O

Fall Family Gathering:  October 11-14

Autumn in the Adirondacks:  It’s many people’s favorite time of the year.  The weather is cool (but not too cold), the hiking trails are dry, and the views are amazing!

Come join camp friends, family and alumni for a weekend gathering of hiking, volunteering, and fund raising for thefallcopy Adirondack Scholarship Foundation.

This year marks a shift from the mini-reunion and fund raising event, held over the past few years, in late August.  “With a camp reunion coming up in 2014, we will return to the August format and have several fun activities and fund raising events scheduled,” announced Tim Singer, Director of the Adirondack Scholarship Foundation and alumni affairs for camp.

“However, coming off of the heels of another successful Patch Sprint, held Memorial Day weekend, we wanted to see how attractive the fall holiday weekend would be for our alumni and supporters.”

2013 Pok-O-MacCready “WOW Weekend” Alumni Gathering

FriAdirondack_Fallday (10/11):  Check-in at camp.  Meals and lodging for requesting participants.

Saturday (10/12):  Hiking Day.  The main event will be a scenic climb (or several hikes, based on group size and preference).  Continental breakfast and trail meal/snacks will be available for requesting participants.  Hikers will then meet for dinner at a restaurant or tavern to be determined.

Sunday (10/13):  Alumni Work Projects.  Camp maintenance director Shai Walker will lead groups in a series of volunteer WOW projects – all easy and fun – designed to improve Pok-O-MacCready, both structurally and aesthetically.

Monday (10/14):  Depart camp.

COST:  Aside from a donation, in the amount of your choosing, the reunion is free!  A small fee will be charged for those choosing to stay, and eat, at camp.  “Camp is being very generous in offering its facilities to us,” said Singer.  “In return, we are hoping for a great show of support, both for the volunteer work on Sunday, as well as the scholarship foundation that is so important to us.”
