Find out more about Pok-O-MacCready‘s 2013 wilderness camp trips here.

If you are looking for rustic and rugged wilderness camps for your kid, Pok-O-MacCready is all that and more!  Pok-O boasts a diverse, well-established wilderness program.  Each summer, we send out dozens of trips which are staffed by experienced trip leaders and specialists.  We offer a variety of wilderness trips suited to all ages and abilities.

Every camper has the opportunity to participate in wilderness camp experiences.  Nothing can match the lessons, the challenges, the beauty, and the camaraderie felt during a wilderness camping trip.  Every trip is memorable, whether it be in the mountains or on the lakes of the Adirondack wilderness.

Trips are sent out of camp nearly every day.  They vary in length from half-day to day-long, overnight, and multi-day excursions. There are trips of varying difficulty levels and distance to appeal to all campers.

Pok-O-MacCready is nestled among a group of small local mountains.  The mountains serve as a gentle introduction to hiking, wilderness camping, and other outdoor skills. Our local mountains offer beautiful views of Lake Champlain, the High Peaks, and the surrounding landscape.  Many campers who discover a love of hiking and the outdoors on these trails continue to expand their horizons on more challenging terrain.

The next step for avid hikers is to enjoy the myriad of wilderness camping trips we offer into the Adirondack High Peak Wilderness. With picturesque summits and primeval forests, the Adirondacks represent one of the most biologically diverse wilderness areas in the country.

Many campers aspire to climb all forty six peaks with elevations above 4,000 feet.  Doing so, they can become an “Adirondack Forty-Sixer”.  Each summer, Pok-O successfully sends out hikes to all forty-six peaks and celebrates the individual campers and counselors who have completed this challenge; a feat which typically takes several summers to accomplish.
