The Boy’s Banquet

13boysbanquet10“The reason I come back year after year is that it keeps me young.  There is no place like Pok-O!”

So stated boy’s camp headmaster Josh Bornt at Thursday evening’s Camp Pok-O-Moonshine banquet and awards ceremony.

Following a toast and dinner, recognition was given to the summer camp kitchen staff.  Then, everyone settled in for the main program:  The presentation of awards to the campers.  Everyone received at least one award – some, many more – and the top citations included Alec, for “nine years of service” as a camper, and James D, winning the overall wilderness points13boysbanquet02 award… on the same day he completed his Adirondack Forty Sixers.

As always, the big awards were the “Pok-O P”, presented by the staff, and the Honor Camper, voted on by fellow campers.  In the oldest section, ADV, Hank T took the prestigious prize.  “Yeah, I was excited, and a bit surprised.  It’s my fifth year (as a camper) but my first winning Honor Camper.  I guess I’ve come a long way!  I would have liked to have come for all seven weeks this year, but this is a great way to end my camper days.”

In concluding the banquet, Headmaster Bornt told the kids:  “Stay at camp as long as you can.  You will never find another place like Pok-O.  Everyone in this room is part of our family!”
