Riley‘s three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning was the decisive blow in a well controlled revenge victory for Camp Pok-O-Moonshine’s older baseball team, in a sports contest held Friday afternoon at the MacCready ball field.
The shot traveled both high and far, coming to rest in the parking lot, giving Pok-O a 7-2 lead, on their way to an 8-3 win over Camp Lincoln. The two camps traded victories in the home and home series.
Dillan anchored the Pok-O defense as starting pitcher, striking out seven Lincoln batters before his arm tired in the fifth inning. “I was just trying to throw strikes and play the best I could,” said the always-understated Dillan. James D and James B handled the relief pitching chores to secure the win. “I felt like we did well,” said James D, “and I was happy to help my team win in a couple of ways.”
Aside from his home run, Riley also had an RBI double, and an outstanding catch in the infield. “It feels good that I came through for my team when they needed me.” Travis, Joe Z, Nicho, Gavin, James D and James B also had either run scoring hits or extra base hits.
