Happy Trails

40 hours after their a13dayhike2rrival at camp, every boys camper is leaving!

Day hikes and trips are heading into the Adirondacks all Pok-O-Moonshine campers participating.  The trips range from climbs up the Adirondack 46ers, hikes along the mountains surrounding Long Pond, and a fishing trip.  “This is the kickoff to our wilderness season,” said Ken Ryba, the program’s director.  “It’s a good way to introduce new campers to the joys of hiking, and to assess peoples ability to go on tougher trips.”13dayhike1

Additional day and overnight trips, for both boys and girls, commence later in the week.  On Sunday, every girls campers will also go out on a day trip.  “We’re excited because,” said Ryba, “because up until today until today, the forecast called for a 60 percent chance of rain.  Today, it’s only 40!  And the next few days are supposed to get even nicer.  And, rain or shine, the campers always have a great time in the woods!”
