Activity Fair

No rides, no cotton candy… no funnel cakes.  But a fair is still a fair and, each year, campers look forward to the Pok-O-MacCready Activity Fair– their chance to learn about all of the summer camp classes and instructional activity offerings for the summer.

“My favorite was homesteading, but archery looked really interesting, too,” said William P., a first year camper.  Gillian, in her fourth year at camp, also likes homesteading, because “I like the animals.”

Monday morning, the boys and girls camps split into section and cabin groups and visited stations throughout camp, where they were introduced to the skills, procedure and fun, that is promised throughout the session.  Campers then had the chance to sign up for classes; each boy will have three per day and girls will have four periods.  The heads of camp are busy finalizing the schedule today, and classes officially begin Wednesday morning.

Newcomer Abby thought that “tennis seems fun.”  Although he’s been here in the past, Brody still took in the Activity Fair with great interest.  “Hockey and basketball are my favorites, but I also like sailing, because it’s out of my comfort zone.

Mikayla a returning camper, said that the acitivty fair was “cool” and is interested in taking rock climbing “because I like to try new things!”  Daniel, new for the 2013 summer season, took it all in and had some tough decisions to make before signing up for classes. “I liked swimming, boating and tennis, but I really liked “Insanity”.  It looked crazy and interesting!  I’m really looking forward to camp!”
