Facilities available to every camper include an early 19th Century working farm, a state-of-the-art indoor rock climbing center called “The Crux”, tennis and basketball courts, a street hockey complex, modern horse stables, ball fields, swimming and boating docks, and over 50 cabins. The Pok-O-MacCready summer camp complex is located on a 300-acre waterfront property, with Girls Camp (Camp MacCready) and Boys Camp (Camp Pok-O-Moonshine) being separated by just a 5 minute walk “down the path”. This allows all campers to utilize the variety of facilities Pok-O-MacCready offers. Even though girls and boys have different sleeping quarters and tend to dine at separate meal times, our campers enjoy co-ed classes, activities, and all-camp events. We feel this is the perfect combination and really gives our campers the best of both worlds! Find out more about our Camp Facilities here.
We believe there’s no such thing as a “typical day at Camp” because every day here is out of the ordinary! But mostly, our campers enjoy classes, special organized activities for their age groups, and All-Camp events. To get started, our campers attend an Activity Fair at the beginning of each session and choose the activities they’d most like to participate in. The campers are then streamed into classes which they will try out for a few days. If they change their mind, they may have the opportunity to switch to a different class, and once they have arranged their ideal schedule, they’ll remain in those classes for the remainder of the session. With more than 35 classes and activities to choose from, campers can explore new interests, build on their existing skills, or discover something completely different that they might not have the opportunity to try at home.
Weekend days offer “Clubs” in which campers can join in with a particular activity that’s on offer that day. For example, a camper who does not take rock climbing classes may want to join in the Rock Climbing Club that day, just to try it out. Club themes rotate every week…so there’s always something new to try! There are also plenty of Boating & Fishing opportunities each weekend, as well as organized sports. Horseback riders also attend a horse show every weekend so that they can put their new skills into practice. Usually, there is at least one All-Camp event each weekend, as well as a full camp gathering Sunday evening at sunset to reflect on the highlights of the week. As you can see, no day is “typical”, but every day is jam-packed with fun! You can find more details by checking out the Daily Schedule and the summer camp events calendar.
