Another Day, Another 46er

For the third day in a row, Pok-O-MacCready added to its impressive list of Adirondack 46ers.

Highlander camper Remi completed her quest on the summit of Colden.  “It was a fun day, it was fun to be with my friends,” said the hiker of honor, clearly downplaying her achievement.  Along with fellow campers, and counselors, Remi’s parents – Jane and Mitch – traveled all the way from North Carolina for the special occasion.  On top, Remi was presented with the traditional jar or baby food– actually, two different kinds, both of which looked gross but “they weren’t really that bad.”

Remi became the third camper in as many days to finish their 46 on the same mountain.  “It would be nice to have them all go together,” said camp’s wilderness director, Jacob Gittler.  “That would be the most fun, but there are rules for how many people there can be in one hiking group, and we didn’t want to exceed those numbers.”

Indeed, Colden is a popular finishing peak:  Aside from the three this week, two more MacCready girls are planning to finish on Colden during the second session.
