“Birch Bark Book”

Hardcover Volume to Chronicle Camp’s Rich History

What has been several years in the making is expected to come to fruition sometime in 2009.birchbark-books

The Pok-O-MacCready “Birch Bark Book” will be filled with accounts and stories of camp’s legendary people, places, activities and trips.

The idea was conceived by camp Director, Sharp Swan.  “As part of our endeavor to preserve Pok-O-MacCready’s rich historic past, we are setting out to write our own Birch Bark Book. This time, instead of having only one person record their memories, we thought that we could get as many people as possible to write down their recollections.”

Phil Corell, long-time Pok-O camper, counselor and Headmaster, has taken charge of the project.  Corell writes:  “We have received some excellent articles, both short and long.  All contributions are greatly appreciated.    In order to meet our deadline, I would like to remind (cajole, threaten, and plead with) those among you who have volunteered (or been volunteered) to sit down and get writing.”    Corell noted that to date, the book has had several contributions (SEE BOX, right) with many more promised.

“Thanks for the articles and please keep them coming!”
