105 YEARS.... ONE LARGE GATHERING
“With the exception of the 100th, which we knew would be big, this is, by far, the largest reunion we’ve ever had here at camp!”
So exclaimed Pok-O-MacCready director J. Sharp Swan, while speaking at the 105th Reunion banquet on Saturday evening, August 22. The banquet culminated a week-long celebration that included activities, special events, and the renewing of special friendships. In all, over 200 camp alumni, family, friends and staff attended some, or all of the five day event. Among the highlights:
- The awarding of boats- Camp’s “Hall of Fame”- to Chris Stokes, Peter Levine and Alan Madden. A plaque, commemorating all boat recipients was unveiled at the banquet.
- The raising of over $8,000 for the Adirondack Scholarship Foundation, through a popular and highly successful auction, as well as the annual 46-in-a-Day climbing challe
nge.
- Three former camper/counselors- Annie Horiwch, Jen Perry and Courtney Haynes- completed their Adirondack 46ers.
- Many special events, including: A golf tournament... a council fire... a party with live music... a picnic at the 1812 Homestead... late night bowling... swimming... fishing.... hiking! (CLICK HERE to see a full schedule of activities)
“This was so much bigger and better than any of us could have anticipated,” stated alumni director and reunion coordinator Tim Singer. “Thanks to everyone who helped to pull this off, especially the dedicated camp staff. And a special thanks to everyone who took the time to return to camp, donate to a great cause, and re-experience this special slice of our lives.”
