GOODBYE. HELLO!
4-Weekers depart solemnly; 3-weekers reenergize 100th Summer!
BEFORE YOU READ ANYTHING, PLEASE READ AN ARTICLE FROM THE TIMES’ NEWEST REPORTER, WILLOW HERZ. THE WILLOW REPORT.
4 Weeker Award Ceremonies
WILLSBORO, NY -- Saturday evening brough the official end to the program for the 4-weekers, as each camp presented its campers with myriad awards and recognitions for levels achieved,
improvement made, and campers revered.
See a complete boys list, and a truncated girls list, on our Camper Inforamtion Page, here.
Pay special attention to those campers who won Pok-O P’s, MacCready M’s, and Spirit Awards. The P’s and M’s are given by the counselors to the best camper(s) in a given section
during one session. The Spirit Award is akin to, and second in prestige only to, the Honor Camper award given at the 7-week Banquet. Both Spirit Awards and Honor Campers are
chosen by their peers, and are the campers who, in the eyes of their fellow campers, displayed teh most Pok-O spirit, enthusiasm, leadership, fairness, and loyalty over the course of the
session.
Please also keep in mind that anyone who will be attending the 7-Weeker banquet was not eligible for Pok-O P’s, MacCready M’s, or Spirit Awards.
The Transition
WILLSBORO, NY -- There is simply no denying the bittersweet solemnity that accompanies the fond farewell Pok-O seven-weekers and four-weekers must share at the end of every July.
A summer of any length at Pok-O-MacCready is a full one -- full of emotions, full of physical stress, full of life-altering friendships, tests, and triumphs. When a large portion of
the campership departs, everyone at Pok-O feels the loss, not least of all those who are leaving themselves.

A Summer’s Last Gasp -- fond farewell to those headed home to the NYC area.
|
Those of us still here wished the four-weekers good-bye with the same heavy hearts as every year on Monday morning. Tears were shed, and promises about meetings at Ski Week
and of life-long brotherhood were made.
Yet, through those feelings of difficult departures shone an unmistakable enthusiasm among the seven-weekers, for what was yet to come in Pok-O’s 100th Summer.

A Summer’s First Breath -- singing the Camp Song as the bus pulls into Camp MacCready for the start of the three weeks!
|
The seven-weekers would, of course, receive their first re-boost after their friends’ departure when droves of car fulls and entire bus load of new and familiar faces descended upon
Camp on Tuesday.
The three-weekers hit the ground running, getting their nurse checks and swim tests out of the way in record time. The energy
in camp was electric at dinner, in anticipation of the first section activities of the three weeks, and of the summer for many.
Here’s what the sections did Tuesday evening to get the ball rolling officially:
