A TALENTED BUNCH

Campers showcase their talent at the summer’s first Moonshiner.

macgirlsshine     No need to go to Broadway to look for the newest and most up and coming talent when camp is in session. Last night campers revealed how talented they are during the first Moonshiner of the summer. Even with only a few days to rehearse campers brought a variety of talents to the table and offered diverse acts.

New MacCready camper Lexi Cooper-Libruk liked the “funny dancing, jokes and songs.” While Max Greenwald thought the best act was “the one with the fruit.” He also shared his overall thoughts, “I think it’s really great to see everyone do different acts.”

The night also included a Michael Jackson tribute by the Pioneer section who danced to “Thriller.” The ADV finished off the Moonshiner with a blues number titled “ADV Blues.” Several ADV campers got up and sang in their best, raspy blues singers voices while they were accompanied by two guitars.

The Moonshiner audience enjoyed the show thoroughly and enthusiastically laughed and clapped after all of the acts. Justin Bell is “looking forward to the next Moonshiner,” he felt that “with even more time for people to prepare the acts will be even more awesome next time!”

COMPETITION KICKS OFF

ryanmohawk    The MacCready field was doused in color yesterday during the boys 105th Great Indian Track meet. Campers represented their tribe and showed off their spirit while fiercely competing to win each event. The Tuscarora Tribe excelled in the dragon race coming in first place which helped to secure an overall third place in the meet.

Dylan DeChiara played for the Seneca tribe which tied for overall first with the Mohawks. He felt that his team was “really focused, especially during the Shoe Toss. We worked really fast and I think it helped us tie for first place.” Mohawk tribe member, Ryan Moore was “really excited. My favorite part was when we did the dragon race and I think it helped to pull the team into the lead.”

All braves and princesses know that the “Great Spirits” are always watching and they must have been pleased with the sportsmanship and support that each tribe displayed. Older team members were seen helping younger players find and tie their shoes, balance eggs on spoons and follow the complicated rules of each game. With such strong leadership so early on it is clear that each tribe will be giving their all in the days of competition ahead.
