READING, WRITING, ARITHMETIC.  AT CAMP, CLASSES ARE FUN!

With over thirty instructional activities to choose from, campers have a tough time selecting just three or four to take every day.  Regardless of SoccClasswhat classes they choose, the kids all appear to be having a good time.  Activities began today for the girls, while the boys begin their morning classes on Thursday.  Among the offerings:

Volleyball:  “It’s a lot of fun.  I’ve done it before at my other camp, but it’s a lot more fun here.” (Sydney)

Sports:  “It’s fun meeting new friends and playing with them” (Laura B)... ”It’s a lot of fun and it’s not really competitive. We don’t keep score; it’s more about playing.” (Camy)

Tennis:  “We learned the forehand and backhand, it was fun.  I’m taking homestead class next.”  (Mauve and Cate)

Riflery  “I shot lefty for the first time and was able to score.” (Rachel)

Riding: “It’s Great! I haven’t ridden all year, so it was nice.” (Amanda B)

Crafts:  “The teacher asked us questions and we had to answer them by drawing a picture.” (Dakota)

While everyone can participate in just a few of the multitude of offerings, campers do get a chance to take other classes during Saturday morning “Club” period, and during evening section activities.

OUT ON THE TRAIL

The entire boys camp is spending the first full day of session #2 in the mountains.  Eight trips have gone out, ranging from climbs up the area mountains, to long day trips into the Adirondack “High Peaks”.

Of note:  One hike proposes to climb Basin Mountain.  If successful, it will mean that camp trips have climbed all of the ADK 46ers during the summer season.  In addition, The Advanced Section is gunning for the “Patch-in-a-Day”; attempting to climb all four of the Pok-O Patch mountains.  The record is two hours and nine minutes.

Tune in tomorrow for a report on camp’s wilderness program.  (CHECK HERE for a full listing of summer wilderness trips and a camp 46er checklist)
