Back at Camp

“I feel like I’m with my real family!”

On this, the first full day of summer camp, returning campers give their impressions on returning to Pok-O-MacCready. Later this week, we’ll showcase the first impressions from many of our new campers.

GittlerSmallJacob Gittler (left): Each year it feels amazing to be back, and this year is no different. I’m pretty pumped for an awesome summer!”

Tom Schiefer: “It is amazing to be back. We’ve been here a small while, but it’s picked up right where we left off. It’s great to enjoy all the camp activities such as running, hiking, and even the morning polar bear dips.”

Blake Artuso: “Now that we’ve returned, I feel like I’m with my real family. Every person here has such a beautiful soul.”

Rudy Peugeot: “It feels very good to be back. ‘ADV’ is a change from the previous sections and I don’t know it very well yet, but it seems like it will be a great summer.”

THE FIRST DAY OF CAMPGirlsInElmsford

by, Maggie Belshe- C.I.T.

The first day of camp is always very exciting, it’s the beginning of a new adventure; a day of making new friends and trying new things.

As a returning camper, it is all about reuniting with old friends, and getting back into the swing of things. But for most, the first day of camp just begins a continuation of the previous summer. As Eliza Blum says, “The second I get to camp it feels like I’ve been here for years!”

GETTING BUSY

Campers were barely off the bus, and activities were already under way. Here’s a sampling of the first 24 hours; For a full photographic look at yesterday’s Opening Day of Camp, go to our photo GALLERY.

SCHOOL’S OUT but the tests go on. During the first days of camp, all campers take a swim test to determine their level for instruction. In addition, horseback riders (left) are placed according to their skills and experience.

And, on Monday, all interested actors had the opportunity to audition for the camp play- “Anything Goes”- scheduled for the final week of the four week session.
