WAR IS UNAVOIDABLE!

Colonists Vow to Drive Away British and Gain Independence

GBR

Her Majesty’s Royal British armed forces have invaded the tiny town of Willsboro, New York in hopes of retaining this prized land for King George III and the Motherland.

At the same time, the ragged Colonial army- hell bent on winning their independence- has dug in on the defensive.

It’s July 4th, and the camp fun continues with a camp war. Pictures, descriptions and accounts coming up tomorrow.

SENECA CAPTURE THE TRACK MEET

The hatchet hTrack1as been unburied; the battle has begun. The 2008 Indian Games kicked off Thursday, as always with the boys Great Indian Track Meet. The usual array of diverse events- some silly, some athletic- faced the new and returning tribal members. Among them: The spoon and egg race... The cracker, whistle and pie slam.... The Keeseville Fire Brigade.... Wheelbarrow and dragon race, and much more. “The best event,” said Onondaga Diego Bracci, “was the spoon and egg.”

“It was the bomb”, raved Tyler Trubish, adding that he enjoyed the tribal cheer. A steady rain turned into a downpour prior to the sky clearing for the latter events. “With the rain we really had to rely on teamwork this year,” said Will Shannon of the Cayuga. His tribe ended up in a three-way tie for second place in the meet. The winning tribe was the Seneca.

Indian games continue Saturday with the girl’s swim and boat carnival.

LIVELY ENTERTAINMENT TO A PACKED HOUSE

The summer’s first skit night, known at Pok-O-MacCready as a “Moonshiner” was staged last night at the H.T. Swan theater.

Campers and counselors from every section performed. The highlights included some brave solo singing performances by Abigail Davis, Will Shannon and Jenna Zimmerman; the musical-comedy stylings of Jackson Koeppel; The C.I.T.’s cereal song, and much more.
