WAR!

Iroquois tribes begin series of battles

   Indian Days officially kicked off last night with the opening council fire. The Sachems and Chiefs from each of the five tribes performed a fire starting dance; tribal feather were passed out; the hatchet was unburied and the “White People” outlined the rules and expectations for the upcoming contests. (see schedule and results)

   Four events will be staged today, with three more Wednesday to decide the 2008 Indian Games champion.

4-Weekers: “What do you still want to do in the final week of camp, that you haven’t yet done?”

JUAN: “Blacksmithing.”

MADDIE: “Climb a 46er.”

AUSTIN: “Mountain Biking.”

HANNAH: “Get launched off ‘the blob’ by Shai.”

MAXX: “Finish my 46..”

SONJA: “The rest of Indian Days.”

ANNIKA: “I’d like to try the ‘bola’ game.”

PATRICK: “I’ve done everything!”

POK-O-MAC DOMINATES IN INTER-CAMP SPORTS

   An early afternoon storm washed out several contests, but up to that point, Pok-O-MacCready boys and girls recorded convincing wins over Camp Regis-Applejack in four different sports.

   In soccer, Andres Sanabria scored a pair of goals in a 5-2 win.... Owen Mellin led the home team to a tight 26-24 victory over Regis in basketball.... Archery featured the sharp shooting of Jason Vietch (44) and Tim Caradonna (42), along with enthusiastic competitor Nicole Dodillet... And in tennis, Pok-O dominated, netting a 13-2 match victory, including several 6-0 sets. In the closest match of the day, Frenchman Rudy Peugeot of Pok-O snapped a 4-4 tie and went on to a 6-4 win. 

   Pok-O and Regis will square off again in session #2, at Regis. (see rosters and results)
