MacCready wins a pair of one goal decisions

MacSocc7  Coming off the heels of a series of lopsided results in baseball, Pok-O-MacCready turned the tables Friday with a couple of victories on the soccer pitch. And both games were classics.

At Pok-O, the younger girls team eeked out a 4-3 win over Camp Whipporwill. MacSocc13 Maddie Murphy led the way with a trio of goals. “We handled the ball really well,” said Murphy. Our teams were equal, but we passed a lot and had good teamwork.” Annika Mele had the other goal for MacCready.

On the road, it took overtime before Camp MacCready edged out a 5-4 win. Macky Young scored the last of her three goals on a misdirected pass to seal the win. “Actually, I think it was a corner kick or a throw-in,” said the always understated Young. “Everyone was like kicking it around and it was a lucky placement for me.”

Annabel Calhoun had two goals while Xylina Robles was, according to teammate Christina Fink, “Amazing in goal!”
