The sun finally came out to shine yesterday during the three-weeker Big MacCready. The weather was great and a large crowd gathered on MacCready field to watch the final horse show of the season. The field was peppered with jumps and obstacles for riders to ride around and jump over. Riding staff had been working for two days to set up the field for a challenging competition.
Luna Hattori who competed yesterday stated, “I thought the show was very good and I felt as though I was being challenged which made me ride to the best of my ability. Jenna Hanson also felt that yesterday’s show tested her as well. “It was a real challenge to ride MacCready (the horse) and I came in second. I think though that the second place meant more to me because she wasn’t easy to ride. I had to work harder for it.”
Many riders were having a successful afternoon and several of the champion, first and second place ribbons went to Pok-O-MacCready riders. “The horse show was awesome,” exclaimed Alex Gigantiello. “I won the championship ribbon while riding Jake in the Low Hunter class.” Isabel Adler also was pleased with her performance when she walked away with a Championship ribbon and two first place ribbons at the end of the day. “It was my first show ever; I can’t believe I did so well,” remarked Adler.
The Big MacCready is a fun day not just for riders, but for the spectators as well. Many look forward to having lunch at the “Road Apple Cafe”, where you can purchase soda, hot dogs, chips and burgers. Rachel Larson admitted, “I didn’t participate in the show but it was really fun to watch.” Andee Buccarelli agreed, “we had great weather for the show and it was a relaxing day. Everyone is eager to see how their friends (who ride) have improved. You can really appreciate how hard they have worked during the camp season. This is the culmination of all of their hard work.”
