“HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF”

After an intense battle the South does not rise again.

fedflagCampers prepared themselves for battle yesterday afternoon as they donned their blue and gray to show which side they were on. “The Blue and Gray Game” is an intense reenactment of the Battle of Gettysburg. Many areas of camp were turned into “strong points” that had to be guarded by soldiers.

Zoe Love described the battle as “intense” and she felt “it was all about strategy and staying close together when you were guarding your strong point.” Ferdinand Urban agreed that “it was all about the teamwork.uniononhill1

“It was raining flourhawks,” exclaimed Elah Horwitz. “There was so much you had to think about, flourhawks were flying everywhere and before you knew it, you were hit” said Kyra Brettler.

The Union managed to capture all six strong points in the first round, but Caleb Rudge a Union soldier felt that the Confederates “managed to capture our strong points more than we captured theirs.” Moustafa Ahmed felt that, “the Union had an advantage because their territory was at the top of the hill.” The advantage proved to be what the Union needed to win as they managed to overcome the Confederate army and win the battle. 3wkshiner2FULL MOON-SHINER

Last night’s first and last three-weeker Moonshiner was held in the Theater Barn at Camp MacCready. The performers played to a packed audience and after all the 3wkshiner5seats were taken it was standing room only.

Rumors circulated between the boy’s and girl’s camp that there were only going to be a few acts, but as it ended up, more campers chose to “shine” last night than predicted. There were a multitude of talents showcas3wkshiner4ed including, singing, dancing, and a “double magic” act.

Highlights were an a capella performance by Rachel Larson, the “Penguin Song” by the ADV, an impromptu sing-a-long when Highlander Cabin 2 performed “Bubbling,” and a CIT counselor auction.

Michael Murdock; however, blew the audience away (literally) with his performance on the bagpipes. The audience went wild with clapping and cheering when he finished and Murdock was surprised at the reaction he received. “A lot of people don’t like the bagpipes, so it felt great that people really liked it.”

REAPING THE REWARDS

Everyone awoke to a nice treat this morning when head chef Mike Gast prepared Blueberry pancakes using fresh blueberries. They were picked this week on Catamount Mountain by a group of Pok-O hikers.

The group climbed the mountain Wednesday and took time to bring back something that all of camp got to enjoy. Thanks Fellas!
