Each June, campers and staff arrive. Every August, they depart. Well, not all of them!
Work has been going on at camp year-round. Not just with the Outdoor Education Center, but construction projects for summer camp. “Among the big changes,” said Admissions Director Dana Beck, “are the bathrooms. The renovated bathroom in the C.I.T. cabin is finished, and a brand new intermediate - Senior boys bathroom is nearly done.”
Beck (who, as seen in the photo left, is more than eager to put in some manual labor herself) also pointed out that “when campers arrive on June 24, they’ll also see a new and improved ‘Pok-O Plex®’. Both the basketball court and hockey rink have been entirely redone.” Upon completion of the current project, construction is scheduled to begin on an indoor-outdoor rock climbing tower.
But first things first. The 2007 season unofficially began June 1, with the arrival of some staff members. There’s plenty to do before staff orientation commences June 15. Horses are being worked out, grass is being mowed, cabins painted and the calendar is being finalized. “We’re very excited about the summer schedule,” added Beck. “Among the new and exciting events is our ‘Super Cool Transition Days’- the period between when the four-weekers depart and the three-weekers arrive. The full summer kids will be doing some awesome stuff, including going to the Great Escape amusement park.”
