 A Walk in the Woods

The boys spend a day hiking mountains and paddling lakes

In keeping with camp’s long tradition of experiencing the outdoors, every boy in Pok-O headed out yesterday to brave the heat and traverse the woods, summits, and lakes of the Adirondacks. Advanced Section camper James Schott contributed the following trip report:

“We set off from camp heading for Sugarloaf. On the way to Sugarloaf we got some tarp-setting lessons. At the top of the mountain we ate spamwiches and learned how to use a compass and map to get from one place to another. We then used our newfound skills to bushwhack from the top of Sugarloaf to Alban. Then, we bushwhacked from Alban to the road that leads to Sugarloaf. From there we made our way back to camp. And even though it was a hot day, it was a great trip.”
