Talking ‘bout a Revolution

Trip reports, coed barbeque...and storm clouds are brewing

“After this, we drifted towards the boat dock, attempting to validate the afternoon with a fish. My particular boat was like my mind, continuously flooding with pointless things, in this case water.”

Even though it was only a mile from the bottom to the top of Iroquois, it was really hard and steep. Not only that, the pines were so thick I could hardly see what was under my feet let alone in front of me....”

“We got all our stuff together and then hiked back to the van and we were all relieved. We drove back to camp just in time to find out that our section was camping out at Indian Rock that night!”

“We rowed over to the Homestead in rowboats. When we got there we couldn’t resist looking at the baby pig. Then we went to the old schoolhouse and looked at the stuff they used back then.”

News BulletinGrowing dissension between the American and British sides have fueled the talk of imminent war; some have predicted the outbreak of hostilities may commence as soon as tomorrow, July 4th. Rumors of tea bags floating down by the boating docks have not been confirmed, but certainly both sides are busy making preparations---laying aside their blue and red T-shirts and ensuring that their sock flour is dry and loaded. King George III scoffs at the idea of American independence, and his emmisary, Billy Howe, promises to stifle the rebellion; Billy’s brother Richard was busy at the sailing docks and could not be reached for comment. Meanwhile, Abby Adams vows that the MacCready women will carry the day for independence, while young Tommy Paine offered only a terse “these are the times that try men’s souls” before heading off to his creative writing class. Stay tuned for more details tomorrow.

The MacCready Highlanders and Pok-O Seniors got together yesterday evening for a combination of community service, camp history, and relaxed fun. The campers started with a one-mile walk along the road cleaning up all the trash along the way. Upon arrival at the 1812 Homestead the campers were greeted by Pok-O alumnus Alan Madden (at right), who gave everyone a detailed, anecdote-filled tour of the Homestead. Afterwards came the most popular part of the evening, the coed barbeque. Senior Tyler Grant raved about the outing, saying that “the food was great, and it was a lot of fun to just play frisbee and hang out with the girls.”
