8:00am: The boys and girls camps eat together, and still the dining hall is not full. Soon they will be coming....
12:30pm: Separate lunches, girls and boys. The dining Hall is filling up.... and they’re still arriving.....
4:00pm: The vans have arrived. All the parents are gone and the summer program is back in full swing.
The second session- the three week session- has more campers than it’s ever had.
The first to arrive, before breakfast, was 12-year old Sam Politi, back for his seventh summer. “I couldn’t wait to get here, and I’m going to keep coming back until I’m a counselor!”
The campers got busy immediately, with the usual administrative tasks, such as nurse checks, swim tests, cabin assignments. Everyone also got a brief summary of the 28 class and activity offerings. Class sign-ups take place today with the schedule commencing Wednesday morning.
“It’s very exciting,” boasts new Camp MacCready director Cindy Watson. “We have over 100 kids: Unprecedented for the three weeks and, I think, even larger than the first four weeks!”
