Senior soccer team dominates as Pok-O splits two with Lincoln

In an impressive show of talent and teamwork, the boys senior soccer team won easily over Camp Lincoln soccerspkickyesterday by a score of 7-3. Coach Caleb Balderston was very pleased with his team’s performance, noting that the squad “did a great job of sharing the ball and controlling the game.” Leading the scoring efforts were Alejandro Buenfil, Andres Orendain, and Amir Hay with two goals apiece, while Emmanuel Peugeot chipped in with one. Zach Fine made some fine ballhanding moves while helping set up the offense, and Spencer Ivey was also a major contributor all over the field. The younger soccer team did not fare as well as they fell to Camp Lincoln by a margin of 8-0. The Pok-O team played much better in the second half, however, in limiting Lincoln to just two goals and generating more offense of their own. Erik Matson did a fine job of distributing the ball to his teammates, while the Rizzo brothers, Anthony and Dominick, made many fine plays in tackling and defense. Oliver and Sebastian Moody also provided helpful vocal encouragement for their teammates. The next games with Camp Lincoln will be this Friday; soccer rosters and team photos can be found here.

What a Game!! Pok-O and Lincoln Play a Thriller in Ultimate Frisbee

lucasfrisdv“Wow! This is the best game I’ve seen at Pok-O in many years!” exclaimed Director Sharpfrisjmdefense Swan as Pok-O and Lincoln dueled into the darkness yesterday evening on the Ultimate Frisbee field. And even though Pok-O came out on the short end of the 11-9 final score, players and spectators alike agreed that this one was something special. The two teams continually exchanged leads as player after player made amazing efforts, highlighted by diving grabs and fierce defense. Geoffrey Livsey again starred as the team’s handler, and had several point-scoring throws that traversed the entire length of the field. Spencer Ivey, at bottom right, continually soared for many key receptions, and many players hustled to the point of exhaustion, particularly after their contributions in that afternoon’s soccer game. Swan was even more impressed with the level of sportsmanship shown by both sides, noting that “this is the one sport with no officials, where each camper calls his own fouls, and the level of fair play was incredible.” Jackson Connors-Kellgren summarized it best afterward: “ A simply amazing game. There are just no words to describe it.”
