Road Trip

Pok-O-MacCready travels two hours for sports competition

Paul Smiths, NY, August 3-- 40 Pok-O-MacCready athletes completed the second half of a home and home sports match-up WelcomePokotoday, with the boys and girls from Pok-O winning three matches and falling in two others.RegisGroup “This was a great chance for the session #2 campers to take part in competition, as they miss out on the games against camps Lincoln and Whipporwill during the first four weeks,” stated camp sports coordinator Cecilia Disney. In addition to those games, Pok-O-Mac also hosted Regis in a series of events earlier this summer during the first session. The same sports were compted at Friday:

Younger Soccer: A pair of goals by Jose Andres Gomez and a tally by Natalie Whitney were not enough to overcome the explosive Regis offensive attack, as Pok-O dropped a 5-3 decision.

RegisSoccPicOlder Soccer: Three different goal scorers and solid defensive play led Pok-O to a 3-1 win. Jose Eduardo Gomez, Macky Young and Jose Antonio Gomez tallied for the victors.

Tennis: In a series of lopsided matchings, Pok-O took eight out of ten. David Horwich came back from a tough morning set against a “guy much older and much better” to win his afternoon match. Diego Bacci recorded two victories on the day, while Chris Takara, Maria Bacci, Ali Mackay, Tim Caradonna and Serena Hallowell all scored easy wins.

Basketball: In a low scoring affair consisting of novice to intermediate players, Pok-O outshot Regis by a 18-12 score. Max Eichberg and Coleen Dunn led the scoring, with Meredith Carroll RegisFriendsheading the cast of stubborn defenders.

Archery: A mix of sharpshooters and target rookies were not enough to hold off Regis experience, as Pok-O dropped the match 811-650. Isak Spajnol recorded the second highest target of the day, a 68.

Aside from compeition, the kids enjoyed a meal in the Regis dining hall, and the camaraderie of meeting and interacting with new friends (right).
