Advanced Section Tackles the Presidentials

About once every 12 years, the Advanced Section- for its special year-end trip- leaves the Adirondacks for the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The 2007 ADV returned Wednesday from a five day trip over the presidential range: Madison, Adams, Jefferson, Monroe and Mt. Washington, the 6200-foot highest peak in the Northeast.

“The tops are a lot clearer (than the Adirondacks). Sweet views!” -James Schott

“The forest isn’t as dense, the trails are wider and you can always see where you’re going” -Alex Sieger

“It’s a lot rockier.” - Alex Bridgewater

“There were signs that said: ‘If the weather turns bad you should turn back, or you will die!” -Blake Artuso

“The weather was a lot less unexpected than we expected it to be!?!” -Benn Singer

“Spectacular!” -Ari Silverman, Trip leader

LAKE CHAMPLAIN SAILING

Campers spent two nights at the Ausable Point beach and campground. They took advantage of the winds on 100-mile long Lake Champlain with their Laser and Laser2 vessels. Aside from sailing, the kids got to kayak, play on the beach, eat good food, and enjoy regular visits from camp staff.

WATERFALL TRIPS

Two separate day trips went out this week to the cool Adirondack rapids. Campers had the chance to wade, ride the shallow waves, or just hang out: perfect for the sunny, hot days.
