ELECTION RESULTS

Officers Hope to Lead Tribes to Victory

In five seperate meeting areas, the tribes of the Iroquois Nation gathered Thursday night to elect officers for the 2006 IndianTuscyHandshake Games competition. Voted in to each tribe were a Chief, Sachem, assistant Chief and SenecaChiefSachem; Medcine Man and Woman, and two tribal storytellers.

As Indian Games is run for and by the campers, it is these tribal officers who have the ability to lead their team to ultimate victory. “I was nervous during the voting,” said newly elected Tuscarora Sachem Hannah Farrell, pictured at right being congratulated on her victory.

The honor of being elected is huge, as displayed in the reaction of new Seneca Chief Jacob Gittler, pictured at left. But there’s very little time to bask in the glory. In the next few days, tribes will take part in the Pok-O Boat Carnival and MacCready Rolas. Indian Days, with nine competitions held over three days, is just over a week off. “It’s definitely an honor to be Sachem, but it’ll be hard work,” said Farrell.

POK-O DROPS ANOTHER PAIR

In what has become a rough week, in terms of results, Pok-O-MacCready dropped two more games to Camp Lincoln Thursday afternoon. However, with great action, great weather and fine playing, the day proved that results aren’t everything.

In the younger game, played at home, Lincoln again took a big early 5-0 lead, but Pok-O played them even the rest of the way to drop an 8-2 decision. Highlights included a pair of hits by Evan Greenwald; the shutout relief pitching from Zachary Lynch, and some outstanding defensive plays, most notable from Matt Shayne and Doug Fisher. “We had much better defense and offense then the first game, but the better team still won,” said Fisher.

In the older game at Lincoln, Pok-O took a 1-0 lead then, in the words of one player “we collapsed!” Lincoln took the contest by a score of 6-2. Bright moments for Pok-O included hits by Brad Paulette and Geoff Livsey, the relief pitching from Mark Balderston and a strange double play started by center fielder Alex Sieger.

If nothing else, the week of inter-camp baseball was about participation and experience. “I’m not very good,” said Rudy Peugeot, from France. “This is the first time I played and I love basbeall!”

THE AMAZING BLUE BOAR - by, Jenna Zimmermanjennaz

The campers walked to their next class not knowing that someone WITH GLOWING RED EYES WAS WATCHING THEIR EVERY MOVE. IT WAS BLUE BOAR!

The kids were going to drama, but Blue Boar was planning his attack in the bike shop.

The kids were playing freeze with Bessie and Leah when all of a sudden Blue Boar jumped out and... asked if he could play too. And that’s when the entire camp found out he was very, very mean.

Just kidding. Just joking. He was really very, very nice.
