CEASE FIRE!

War on hold as two sides negotiate Peace

The 230th annual Pok-O-MacCready Revolutionary war has been delayed due to weather. An expected British assault was halted at the eleventh hour. “I didn’t have a good feeling about it,” uttered a disgruntled Gen. JohnKingTroops06 GeorgeBurgoyne (right, with troops), adding that “we’ll be back... soon!”.

In the meantime, as the Colonies prepare for an inevitable attack, they are busy scavenging food and saltpeter. There are also some promises coming out of Philadelphia that Congress is about to pass some sort of Declaration saying that “These Colonies are, and are of a right to be, free and independent States.”

Sources close to the Pok-O-Mac Times say that the war will be fought Sunday afternoon. Until then, General Washington (left) has his hungry, cold troops hunkered down at Valley Forge: “We’ll be ready for the Redcoats. With our loyal General Benedict Arnold leading us, we can’t fail!”

POST- WAR PARTY GOES ON AS SCHEDULED

Dance   Despite their clear hostility towards one another, the troops took advantage of a halt in military action to attend an AmericanStaffDressup-British mixer Wednesday night at Robinson Hall. Inside, the older troops moved to the rhythms of decidedly non-18th century music. Outside, soldiers not in favor of dance movements occupied themselves with Frisbee and other games.

The Generals (counselors) celebrated the event by dressing up in crazy outfits. “The Counselor costumes were very funny” said Meghan RossiniMontana Machson said the best part was “seeing the boys”, while Linzee Brown summed it up by saying: “It was all fun!”

YOUTH FIRE BRIGADE

Earlier this week, the Pioneer Section- Pok-O-Moonshine’s youngest campers- paid a visit to the Willsboro Volunteer Fire Department. Camp staff member and local EMT and fire fighters Shai Walker and Dave Durant showed the kids the various equipment and explained what the department’s role is during an emergency. For their part, the kids enjoyed climbing on the trucks.

HEAR THE VOICE OF YOUR LONG LOST CHILDBeckonPhone

Starting today, parents are allowed to call campers. Boys can be reached during lunch, while girls can be called during rest hour-- simultaneously from 12:45-1:45pm. (Sunday hours differ, please see CONTACT CAMP)

We ask that you please be mindful of other parents, by limiting both your call duration and frequency. While you may not always get the voice of smiling Dana Beck (right) on the phone, there should be a staff or C.I.T. member available to summon your child. Remember that many parents are trying to call during this small daily window of time, so if you are unsuccessful, please be patient.
