MATT: “It’d be fun. We could do all of the activities we want, and have a sleep in.”

JESS: ”I’d party. Go crazy. Eat, and run around without shoes on.”

BRIAN: “We could do whatever we wanted, like build a big bonfire.”

DOROTHY: “It would be hectic; There are counselors whose skills you rely on to get better.”

EDWIN: “We’d do everything you’re not supposed to do, like climb on top of a cabin.”

MONTANA:  “Things would be disorganized, but fun. I’d take Dell (horse) and gallop away.”

ELIAS: “It wouldn’t be as good because the counselors are fun, and there for you.”

BROOKE: “I’d break into the candy store and JeanMart. No one here to make you feel guilty.”

soccer teamDRAMATIC SOCCER MATCH

Chris Takara’s winning score during sudden death penalty kicks gave Pok-O-MacCready an exciting and narrow 2-1 Soccer victory Friday morning at Camp Regis-Applejack. “Definately the best soccer match I’ve seen in my 12 years at camp,” remarked inter-camp sports coordinator Cecilia Disney.

Regis opened the scoring in the first half, but Pok-O, led by fullback Coleen Dunn, played lindsay kantorstellar defense and tallied in period #2 as Lindsay Kantor fed Macky Young. Young, initially believed to have been out for the season with a shoulder injury was “absolutely amazing; she was everywhere,” said Disney. The game went into overtime tied at one, with no scoring in the extra frame, and each team tallying four times in the penalty phase (Anand, Eichberg, Rodriquez and Dapena for Pok-O), before Takara’s goal ended the cliffhanger. Pok-O-MacCready’s victory was the even more impressive given the fact that “we were a bunch of young players, both boys and girls, facing mostly 15-year old boys.”

LindsayVarun In Tennis action, Matt Kantor won the boys “B” draw, winning four matches without dropping a single game. Alex Nepveu took third in the division, while Claudia Tetzner and Serena Hallowell were semifinalists in girls “A”. Varun Anand and Lindsay Kantor(left) competed in boys “A”; Kantor being far too good for the girls draw so she was put in the boys “A” draw and she won her first match 6-1 and was up 4-1 in the semifinal match when it was called because of time.

Volleyball resulted in a two games to one Regis victory, while Basketball and Softball were canceled, due to lack of time.

AQUA ENJOYMENT: It’s been a crazy summer for weather at camp. First, there was a lot of rain, followed by a stretch of comfortable temps., and low humidity. Most recently, the Adirondacks, and all of the east coast, have been hit with a major heat wave. “In may be hot,” quipped one staff member, “but at least it’s humid!”

To escape the blazing conditions, there is not shortage of water fun at camp: The trampoline.... the Blob.... the rope swing... the slide.... diving boards.... tubes... and noodles.
